PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Americans earn a point in 5-4 loss to Idaho

ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, dropped a 5-4 decision in a shootout.

In a bizarre game that saw Idaho jump on the Americans early, scoring the first two goals of the game, only to see Allen respond with four unanswered of their own and then have Idaho battle back to tie it in the third period.

60 minutes would not be enough, as the two teams would need a shootout to decide this one. Justin Parizek scored the only goal in the extra session, lifting Idaho to a one goal victory and ending the Americans two-game winning streak.

Allen scored three power play goals on Saturday night, including two by Americans forward Mathieu Aubin (2). Peter MacArthur (3) and Vincent Arseneau (3) also scored for the second game in a row.

Allen went 3 for 8 on the power play this evening, but gave up yet another shorthanded goal, their fourth allowed this season.

Joel Chouinard had four assists for Allen on Saturday night in defeat, tying Olivier Archambault’s four-point game on opening night in Rapid City.

The Steelheads outshot Allen 37 to 33 for the game. Jeremy Brodeur got the start for Allen, stopping 32 of 36 shots.
