PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Americans drop second straight

ALLEN, Texas (Feb. 19) – The Allen Americans dropped a 3-2 decision to the Rapid City Rush on Sunday afternoon at Allen Event Center in front of 4,638 fans . The loss was the second in a row for the Americans.

Rush forward Anthony Collins had two goals to lead them to victory. Collins second goal of the game in the second period turned out to be the game winner for Rapid City. Rush goalie Adam Morrison stopped 38 of 40 shots to earn the win.

“We left some opportunities out there,” said Americans forward Greger Hanson.  “We had a strong third period but were unable to get the tying goal. Morrison (Adam) played well for them but we didn’t bury our chances.”

The Americans outshot the Rush 40 to 30 for the game.Both teams failed on the power play. Allen was 0 for 3, while Rapid City went 0 for 2. Jamie Murray made is first start in ten days for the Americans. Murray stopped 27 of 30 shots.

Chad Costello extended his point streak to a season-high 13 games, while David Makowski had his 12-game point streak snapped. Spencer Asuchak scored his 23rd goal of the season in defeat.

The Americans are off until Friday night when they travel to Tulsa to meet the Oilers. The loss dropped Allen into second place in the Mountain Division, one point behind the first place Colorado Eagles.
