ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans rallied back in the third period to defeat the Wichita Thunder by a score of 5-4 on Sunday night at Allen Event Center. It was the Americans third win in a row over the Wichita Thunder in as many days.
Gary Steffes shorthanded goal turned out to be the game winner in the final period, his 12th of the season as the Americans would rally back from a 3-2 third period deficit. Chris Crane scored for the fourth game in a row, while Dyson Stevenson scored his 5th of the year. Americans Co-Captain Chad Costello netted his team leading 16th of the season to extend his point streak to seven games.
“We came out hard in the third period and were rewarded for it, said Americans Co-Captain Gary Steffes. “It was a big win over a divisional opponent. You can’t look at their record because they play us tough every time.”
The Americans are back on the road on Tuesday night, against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 pm. Allen will play Tulsa four straight games this week with home games on Friday and Sunday.
