ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans (5-2-0-0) defeated the Missouri Mavericks (5-2-0-1) on Halloween night at Allen Event Center to win their fourth in a row, and improve to 2-1-0 on home ice this season.
Greger Hanson had a two-point night for Allen, assisting on both goals. Hanson had the second assist on Jonathan Parker’s second of the season, and then hit Chad Costello, on a perfect pass in front of the net to set up the second Allen goal.
“Joel Rumpel was great again tonight,” said Greger Hanson, following the 2-1 Americans victory. “Our defense was good in our own end and whenever Missouri had a chance, Rumps (Joel Rumpel) made the big save.”
Rumpel stopped 22 of 23 Missouri shots only giving up a late goal to Tyler Barnes, in the final two minutes for his only blemish on the score sheet. Neither team was able to connect on the power play this evening with Allen going 0-4 while Missouri went 0-3.
The Americans open a three-game road trip next Tuesday night in Tulsa, and then travel to Rapid City for two games next weekend. With the Americans victory Allen is just one point behind Missouri for the top spot in the ECHL Central Division.
The Americans next home game is on Tuesday, November 10th against the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 pm.
