PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Allen Americans vs. Tulsa Oilers 10/31/12

ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans improved to 4-1-0 on the season with a 6-4 win over the Tulsa Oilers on Wednesday night at Allen Event Center. The game was not as close as the score indicated, as Tulsa scored with three seconds left in regulation. The Americans (4-1-0, 8 points) took over first place in the Berry Conference.
*Anthony Maiani scored a goal and had two assists, earning first star of the game honors. Jason Deitsch chipped in two goals and one assist in the win. He scored the first goal of the game at 7:06 into the first period to make the score with Trevor Ludwig assisting on the tally. Deitsch’s second goal game on a breakaway to start the third period, making the score, 5-2. Brian McMillin put the Americans ahead, 6-2, midway through the third period.
The Oilers stayed in the game thanks to their power play, scoring three times with the man-advantage. Michel Beausoleil scored two goals for Tulsa.
Scotty Howes scored a goal in the first period but left the game after his tally with an injury and did not return.
“We’re not sure if it’s a sprain or not,” Americans head coach Steve Martinson said after the game. “He might be out Friday, he might be out for the weekend. We’re not sure yet but we don’t think it’s too serious. We’ll see.”
Darryl Bootland had three assists for the Americans. Steve Silverthorn stopped 10 of 14 shots in net for Allen.
“We have to adjust some things on our penalty kill,” Martinson said. “They did some things tonight that we haven’t had to defend much this year and we’ll make adjustments. That last play was tough; it was a backdoor play. We dominated the game yet they get four goals. I wouldn’t have wanted to be our goalie tonight; one power play goal went in off a skate and some of those plays were tough.”
Martinson was happy to see the puck go in the back of the net a few times for his Americans though.
“We’re scoring goals and we knew we could score goals,” he said. “We were a bit frustrated over the weekend when we weren’t scoring. I thought their goalie played great. He gave up six goals but I thought he made some terrific saves for them.”
The Americans host the Oilers again tonight at Allen Event Center at 7:05 pm. The following images were recorded on Wednesday evening at the Allen Event Center.
