ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – The Navy Midshipmen won the Crab Pot Tournament in game 2 by defeating the UMBC Retrievers 6-2, while out shooting them 43-21. Nicholas Mantz opened the scoring in the first with assists from Matthew Harrigan and Matthew
Caine. The second goal came at 18:30 by Christopher Day, assists to Alexander Vandenberg and Trent Lulow. Navy’s Gil Givens finished the scoring in the first with one second remaining with assists from John Linenger and Karl Huey.
UMBC’s Ryan Atkinson scored an unassisted goal at 16:02 of the second period. Navy’s Nicholas Mantz followed up just 56 seconds later with an assist from Trent Lulow.
The third period opened quickly at the 44 second mark on a goal by Jack O’Hear, assisted by Christopher Day. At 1:29 Navy’s Matthew Caine scored with and assist from Matthew Harrigan. At the 5:34 mark the Retriever’s Ryan Atkinson netted his second goal of the game with an assist from Zac Tracy. Matthew Truninger was in goal for the Midshipmen while Matthew Berry was in goal for UMBC.
