CYCLONES END COVID 19 SEASON WITH CENTRAL DIVISION LEAD
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The ECHL season ended so suddenly that the shock still hasn’t worn off for me. SO A RETROSPECTIVE SEEMS IN ORDER. Early on the ‘Clones played few games against other teams.October was a bit of a slow start to a promising season after raising the Brabham Cup banner on opening night. The pace picked up in November as more division rivalry games dominated the schedule. Battling fiercely to gain an advantage within the division continued through December as more conference rivals and Eastern Conference opponents appeared.
Throughout the season the Cyclones celebrated Causes and characters and auctioned the Specialty Jerseys for Charity. And yes that ice WAS PURPLE for Hockey Fights Cancer Night. Continuing the Path to the Dark Side on Star Wars weekend featured Darth Maul themed jerseys following Darth Vader last season. Marvel weekend featured the Cyclones as Spider Man and the Rapid City Rush as Captain America.More Comic Book Superheros represented wer the FT.Wayne Komets as the Joker and the ‘Clones as Batman.
The season began to gain momentum as winter rolled on and the battle for first place in the Division boiled down to Toledo and Cincinnati. With several games in hand it appeared the Fish might have the upper hand in the long run. With just 10 games left in the season the Cyclones maintained a razor thin lead after losing at Toledo on a Wednesday night. On Thursday the season ended with a thud.
Here are some of the best pix from our COVID 19 shortened season . Enjoy and see ya next time when we meet again.
