CHARLOTTE, NC – The ice is in and the Charlotte Checkers are nearly ready for the new American Hockey League season to get underway this week.
The club will look to get off to a faster start than last season when the Checkers’ offense was limited and the defense had issues in stopping the opposition.
Much of the poor start and weak finish to the 2014-15 season could be traced to a revolving door in call-ups to the Carolina Hurricanes who had an equally dreadful start.
But it is a new season and new optimism is on the ice in Charlotte.
The new roster hit the ice last week for training camp and Pro Hockey News had an opportunity to catch the action.
