PHN photo essay: Traffic jams in crease

PHILADELPHIA, Pa – Is it any wonder why there are so few goals scored in NHL games?   The New York Islanders paid a visit recently to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers.   What becomes painfully evident is the traffic in front of each net on offensive pushes.   Wingers collapse down to the crease to play defense, centers scramble on the strong side of the side and defensemen take the body in an effort to separate player from puck.   On this night, the Islanders snagged a win in Philadelphia when the game went to a shootout.
