NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – The Brahmas met the Evansville IceMen in the regular-season finale Sunday afternoon, scoring three goals in the third period to win 4-3 in regulation.
Brendon Hodge had the lone Brahmas’ goal through two period of play, as Texas trailed Evansville 2-1 at the second intermission. T.J. Fox got the scoring started in the third period at the 1:59 mark to even the score at two goals apiece. After Matt Pierce gave the IceMen the lead once again, Brock Meadows fired a slapshot by Evansville goaltender Pier-Olivier Pelletier to knot the teams up at three. With 6:33 to play in regulation, Mike Hellyer – the newest member of the Brahmas – fed Calin Wild in front of the net, and Wild buried the puck past Pelletier to give Texas its first lead of the game at 4-3. For Wild, it was his eighth goal and first game-winner of the season. Mark Guggenberger stopped 27 of 30 shots fired on net by the IceMen to improve to 22-11-3 on the season. Pelletier made 21 saves on 25 Texas shots, and will end the season with a 14-14-2 record. The following images were recorded at the NYTEX Sports Center on Sunday afternoon.
