INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – The Laredo Bucks, in the midst of their three-game road trip before the Christmas break, traveled to Independence, Missouri to take on the Mavericks Tuesday and came away with a 4-2 victory.
This was the first of only two meetings for the two teams this season.
The Mavericks were the first to jump on the board when Ed McGrane scored at 6:25 in the opening frame.
However, Rusty Masters would tie the game with a shot over the shoulder of the Mavericks netminder at 9:10. Masters was assisted by Mark Nebus and Matt Boyd.
The Bucks would take the lead at 17:53, when Neil Trimm lit the lamp in his first game back. Matt Pierce and Joseph Harcharik had assists on the goal.
The Mavericks tied the game 2-2 at 19:03 with a goal from Matt Dickerson. The Bucks out shot the Mavericks 16-15 in the first period.
The Bucks and Mavericks played a tight second period. Ryan Rondeau made several outstanding saves to keep the score tied at 2-2. The Mavericks out shot the Bucks 9-3 in the frame.
A.J. Hau found the net for the Bucks at 10:02 in the third period, giving the Bucks at 3-2 lead. Tyler Stitt had an assist on the goal.
The Bucks special teams fought off a penalty at 11:48 to keep the one goal lead. At 19:59 Bucks captain Adam Rivet sent the puck the length of the ice, from the Matt Pierce face-off, finding the empty net and sealing the Bucks victory at 4-2.
