Philadelphia Flyers goaltending prospects 2024 Flyers' goalie prospects should be filling in this season

PHILADELPHIA, Pa – The Philadelphia Flyers goaltending situation got a lot more interesting when the team finally received Ivan Fedotov from his situation in Russia, and the release of Carter Hart has made the situation. more complicated. The Flyers now have four goalies seeking ice time in south Philly,

Until the Hart situation was resolved, the Flyers were in limbo. Now things have gotten more interesting with one of their other top prospects that might not get resolved come October regarding Alexei Kolosov.

Today we look at the top goaltending in the Flyers farm system for 2024. Because Felix Sandstrom is no longer in the system, and Fedotov is 27 years old, both have been removed off our top 5 list, which least 4 goalies remining in the Flyers pipeline so here is our top 4 goaltending prospects in the Flyers system.

Samuel Ersson – Ersson is a 5th round pick in 2018 and did nothing but impress Flyers brass once the rains were handed over to him once the team parted ways with Carter Hart.  Errsson needs a lot of work to keep his starting job in net. Ivan Fedotov will be given an entire season to see if he was worth the wait. His 2.82 goals against average were helped in the early part of the season when he shared time with Hart. His below average 90% save percentage needs to improve. If neither Ersson of Fedotov can’t cut it, the Flyers will be forced to look either within the pipeline or outside the organization.

Alexei Kolosov – Now that Fedotov has finally come overseas, Kolosov should get the bulk of the starts in Lehigh Valley. The third-round pick in 2021 has played well in the KHL and could become the Flyers starting goalie in a couple of years but there’s a catch. Rumor has it that Kolosov was not happy during his shot time in LV last year, and having Fedotov now with the Flyers, things got a tad dicey with Kolosov. A smoother transition to America should help ease things. Stay tuned.

Carson Bjarnason – The first of the two goalies Philadelphia picked in the second round in 2023, Bjarnason has solid but not spectacular with the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL). Time is on his side and goalies develop longer than most other positions. The 6’3” 202 Lbs. prospect will get a long look from Flyers management but eventually his game has to progress if he is to be considered a top goalie prospect.

Yegor Zavragin – The second of this year’s goaltenders picked by Philly in 2023, Zavragin could end up being the best of the bunch. Forget the fact that he is listed fourth on our list. One would have thought that the Flyers would have three Russian goaltenders in their system that could change sooner rather than later. Zavragin, who has the same build as Bjarnason has scouts drooling at his potential. His save percentage has been no lower than .920 and his GAA has been around 1.60. He will play in the KHL next season. That could go a long way to his development and his eventually future with Philadelphia.
