Earlier Thursday, the Blackhawks acquired forward Josh Bailey and a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft from the New York Islanders for future considerations. Multiple reports said the Chicago will put Bailey on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout. He has one year remaining on the six-year contract he signed with the Islanders on Feb. 23, 2018.
The 33-year-old forward had 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 64 games this season. He did not appear in the Islanders’ six-game loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference First Round.
Selected by the Islanders with the No. 9 pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, Bailey has 580 points (184 goals, 396 assists) in 1,057 NHL games, all with New York, and 50 points (16 goals, 34 assists) in 71 playoff games.
Perry is the latest of several acquisitions by Chicago, which selected Regina center Connor Bedard with the No. 1 pick of the 2023 Upper Deck NHL Draft on Wednesday.
The Blackhawks acquired forwards Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno in a trade with the Boston Bruins for defensemen Alec Regula and Ian Mitchell on Monday.
