QUEBEC CITY. P.Q. – With six games remaining of the Rivermen’s regular season schedule as of this writing the playoff spot isn’t in the pocket yet for the team but could take a serious option to assure their place by continuing to win their games. Especially the one against the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday April 1.
For Peoria coach Davis Payne the next three games will all be important ones. He would like to see his team to continue to play efficiently. “Our last games lately were games played inside our division and we had head-to-head match ups with the teams that were trying to catch us. We have done good job a couple weeks ago so we will try continue to do that,” said Payne.
“We know we’re playing Chicago and play desperate hockey. So every time we go against these teams there will be battles I mean they will go out and try to beat you. You know how much extra work we will work on finding a way to win. That is the difference this time of the year. That’s the x’s and o’s and the extra determination in this battle, the extra determination in these situation that lead to correction whether it is defensively or offensively,” Payne said.
The Rivermen’s coach knows the importance of finishing the regular season on a positive note for his team trying to get as many wins as possible until the end of the regular season to be able to step into the playoffs with plenty of confidence.
“Yes, we just want to continue to play the way we have been. We work extremely hard, we have been working hard and determined to give second and third efforts in our battles and everybody understands the system and playing that way. We do feel we put ourselves in a good situation to get our playoff spot but we still need a lot of work to be done,” said the coach.
The team is pretty well aware of the importance of making the playoffs as the organization missed making them the last two years The fans will certainly hope their favorites will take part of what so many used to call spring dance to get more fun and not watching other teams dancing.
