Deeside Dragons take on Bradford Bulldogs this weekend with a warning from boss Lol Paul ringing in their ears – “there are no easy games in this league”.
The Chester Road men travel to Yorkshire for the first time this season on Saturday, as they look to continue their climb up the Laidler Conference standings.
Bradford are rock bottom of the table, having lost all but one of their nine games this year, and conceding a mammoth 62 goals in that time.
But Paul, who could be missing a number of players this weekend, will have few qualms about icing a hard-hitting line-up.
He said: “We’ve learned our lessons over the past few weeks and we know there are no easy games in this league.
“We’ll have a few guys away with injuries and work commitments, but I’ll be still putting out two very strong lines.
“Bradford beat Coventry 5-2 earlier this month, so they know how to win games. The last thing we need is another shock result.
“Bradford is a small, cold and dark rink, and they’ll be looking for a win on their home ice.”
The Deeside coach could be forgiven for casting an eye beyond Sunday’s game – to the following week’s clash with local rivals Widnes.
But Paul is refusing to take that match into account, ahead of what could be banana skin encounter for his side.
He added: “As a coach, it would be wrong to start thinking about the Widnes game. That is in the back of my mind.
“We need to take it one game at a time, so all I’m thinking about is Sunday’s match against Bradford.
“The only thing I’m looking at is beating Bradford and bringing the points home.”
Saturday’s encounter with the Bulldogs faces off at 4.45pm.
