LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – In the second day of two at the NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe the Boston Bruins faced off against the Philadelphia Flyers. The puck dropped at 5:00 pm PT, following several time modifications due to the sun causing issues with the ice.
A four goal second period by the Bruins, helped to seal the 7-3 win. David Pastrnak also scored a hat trick.
Pastrnak opened the scoring only 34 seconds into the game to start the back and forth scoring. Joel Ferabee scored off a wrist shot at 6:41. The play continued until 14:48, when Sean Couturier put the Bruins ahead 2-1. Charlie McAvoy answered at 15:27 and the score was knoted at 2-2 into the first intermission.
Into the second period, Pastrnak opened again with the first goal, at 46 seconds in. The Flyer defense struggled, and Charlie Coyle, Trent Frederic, and Nick Ritchie all scored within 99 seconds towards the end of the period, giving the Bruins a solid 6-2 lead. Flyers Carter Hart was pulled, replaced by Brian Elliott.
A goal in the third period off James van Riemsdyk at 12:45, on a powerplay would be the last Flyer goal. Pastrnak scored the hat trick goal on a slap shot with less than three minutes remaining.
Tuuka Rask earned the win in the Bruins net, with 16 saves.
