INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Mavericks goaltender Tyler Parsons recorded his first shutout of the season, stopping 38 shots en route to a 4-0 win for the Kansas City Mavericks over the Indy Fuel at Indiana Farmers Coliseum Saturday night. Parsons 38 saves were the most by a Mavericks goaltender this season. Mavericks forward Mitch Hults put up a multipoint game with a goal and an assist and the Mavericks were a perfect seven-for-seven on the penalty kill.
First Period:
-Zach Osburn (6th goal of season) opened the scoring for the Mavericks 8:48 into the game. Darian Dziurzynski and Bryan Lemos assisted on the goal.
-Mitch Hults (8th) doubled the KC lead at 11:49 of the first period. Jack Walker assisted on the goal.
-Parsons stopped all 16 shots by the Fuel in the opening frame.
Second Period:
-Neither team scored in the period.
-The Mavericks outshot Indy in the period, 14-12.
Third Period:
-Ryan Van Stralen (10th) pushed the KC lead to 3-0 at 11:03 of the third period. Hults picked up his second point of the game with an assist.
-Justin Woods (4th) sealed the game with a power play goal at 16:12 of the third period. Tad Kozun and Cliff Watson assisted on the goal.
Notes & Streaks: Tyler Parsons recorded the first shutout for the Mavericks this season… Parsons’ 38 saves were the most by a Mavericks goaltender this season… Mitch Hults now has a three-game goal scoring streak… The Mavericks went one-for-four on the power play and seven-for-seven on the penalty kill.
The Mavericks now head to Wichita for the first leg of a home-and-home with the Wichita Thunder on Monday at INTRUST Bank Arena. The Mavericks’ next home game will be New Year’s Eve against the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 p.m. The New Year’s Eve game is a First Watch Family Four-Pack night.
