The seven-goal outburst was a welcome relief to Florida goalie Roberto Luongo.
“It was nice,” Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo said. “All of the lines were rolling, controlling the puck in the offensive zone, making some plays. It’s nice to get the goal support.”
Viktor Arvidsson scored his an NHL-first hat trick for himself in the loss. He now has 18 goals for the season.
Jussi Jokinen, Nick Bjugstad, and Vincent Trocheck also scored for the Panthers to give them a 4-2 lead.
“It was really good. Guys competed real hard. I thought, to a guy, we really paid attention to the defensive side of the game first and then once we got the puck, we went on offense,” Panthers head coach Tom Rowe said.
Pekka Rinne was given the ubiquitous hook after the fourth goal; he was replaced by Juuse Saros.
“We didn’t play with any purpose,” Predators head coach Peter Laviolette said. “There’s no passion, no effort. You’re never going to win a hockey game. The actions that we gave were going to give us the results that we got. It’s that simple.”

Roman Josi also scored for Nashville.
Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau helped build a 6-3 Florida lead.
“It’s great to have [Huberdeau] and [Barkov] back,” Trocheck said. “Each pieces of the puzzle. Any time they’re back in the lineup, it makes everybody else feel a little bit more comfortable and lets us all play our roles.”
Trocheck added an empty-netter to seal it.
“The only good thing right now is that we play tomorrow. We’ve got a chance to move forward and take something that was ugly and try to learn from it and be better,” Laviolette said. “A lot of times they say you should put it in the trash can and forget about it. I think we should take it home and wrestle with it all night.”
