Panthers streak ends in Philadelphia with 6-3 loss PHN's Best Shots of the Game - Flyers score four in the second

PHILADELPHIA – The Florida Panther shad their seven-game point streak end on Tuesday night after the Flyers scored four times in the middle frame for a 6-3 win.

It started off well enough for the Panthers when Matthew Tkachuk  scored ih his fifth straight game for a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Carter Hart made 41 saves in the Flyers win. He was particularly busy in the third, making 15 saves to preserve the win.

“He’s been there all year,” the Flyers Travis Sanheim said. “Doesn’t really surprise me anymore. He’s been good all season. … He was excellent tonight, big reason we won a little bit more comfortably.”

Joel Farabee  tied the game, 1-1, in the first period for Philadelphia.

The e Flyers improved to 26-32-12.

Hart made 18 saves in the opening frame.

“Some of those saves were hard saves and they were quick-reaction saves,” Panthers coach Paul Maurice said. He was fantastic tonight. … The best player on the ice was their goaltender and when that happens most nights, you’re going to win the game. They played hard. We had a whole bunch of chances to score. We couldn’t beat the guy.”

Sanheim scored his first of the game in the second period to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead.

“That’s a big part of my game, contributing and joining the offense,” Sanheim said. “That’s something in the past when I’ve been getting goals like I got tonight, right around the net. That’s something I want to continue and hopefully the last stretch here I can put together some good games.”

Florida got that one back on strike by Brandon Montour  for a 2-2 tie.

The Panthers dropped to 36-28-7.

Scott Laughton, Sanheim, and Ivan Provorov scored late in the third period to break open a 2-2 tie and five the Flyers a 5-2 lead after 40 minutes.

Sam Reinhart scored off the power play in the third to cut the deficit to 5-3, but Morgan Frost hit an empty net with two minutes left for the 6-3 final.

Alex Lyon made 18 saves in the loss.

“I think [we were] just caught a little sleepy,” Montour said. “I think at this point of the year, no matter how tired you are, you figure it out and you try to make the right plays. They bear down on some chances there and we couldn’t get back.”
