In Sunrise, a perfectly normal Game 6 had the Florida Panthers leading the Boston Bruins headed to the third period, 3-2.
The third period devolved to a scoring fest with Florida hitting for four goals to the Bruins’ three in a 7-5 win for the Panthers.
The win force the series back to Boston, tied 3-3, and the Panthers holding serve in the last two games.
Florida’s Eetu Luostarinen scored with five and half minutes left in regulation to snap a 5-5 tie.
Sam Reinhart hit an empty net for the 7-5 final with 28 seconds left in the game.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 29 saves in the Panthers win.
Game 7 is set for Boston on Sunday.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead with just two minutes gone in the opening stanza, on a goal from Brandon Montour .
Tyler Bertuzzi scored the first of a double on the night off the power play, to tie the game, 1-1, with six minutes gone in the first.
Matthew Tkachuk, who also had a double in the game, scored at 13:52 to reclaim the lad for the Panthers, 2-1.
David Pastrnak got into the doubles act, his first of the game came in the middle frame to tie the game, 2-2, at 5:42.
Aleksander Barkov sent the match to the third period with the Panthers holding the advantage, 3-2, when he scored midway through the second.
Bertuzzi’s double came 92 seconds into the third for a 3-3 tie and start the offensive outburst from both teams.
Pastrnak scored off the power play at 3:53 to give the Bruins a 4-3 lead, but the Panthers’ Zac Dalpe scored at 7:21 to knot the game, 4-4.
Midway through the third, it appeared that Boston had taken some of the wind out of the Florida sails when Jake DeBrusk scored a shorthanded goal midway through the frame
for a 5-4 lead.
Instead, the Panthers reeled off three straight goals for the win.
Tkachuk started the rally just 27 seconds after the DeBrusk goal for a 5-5 tie, ahead of Luostarinen’s winner.
Linus Ullmark made 26 saves in the loss.
