In Sunrise, the Panther Express rolled on Wednesday night win a 4-1 decision for Florida over the visiting Boston Bruins.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves for Florida as they improved to a gaudy 7-0-0.
“It gets more and more fun every game,” the Panthers’ Aleksander Barkov said. “We just keep working and find a way to get better and we’re having a lot of fun, and I don’t think anybody wants to stop.”
Charlie Coyle staked the Bruins to a 1-0 lead in the first period.
“With Bobrovsky doing what he’s doing, you have to match him punch for punch and that’s where he was a little bit better,” Boston head coach Bruce Cassidy said.
Mason Marchment knotted the game at 1-1 in the first period.
Boston outshot Florida 15-5 in the first period.
“We had a great first period; simple but effective,” the Bruins’ Charlie McAvoy said. “In the second period, we started getting stretched out a bit.”
Eetu Luostarinen put the Panthers ahead, 2-1, in the middle frame.
Anthony Duclair upped the Florida lead to 3-1 in the third period with his fifth strike of the season.
“it seemed like they came out pretty hot for sure,” the Panthers’ Aaron Ekblad said. “We’ve obviously played a lot of games here and we’re doing well. The fact that we were able to turn around and get the win, and [Bobrovsky] played amazing and (got) some timely goals, was great.”
Boston dropped to 3-2-0.
The was not for lack of trying, the Bruins outshot the Panthers, 15-5 in the opening stanza.
Owen Tippett. iced the win for the Panthers with an empty-net goal late in the third period.
“Nobody prepares better than ‘Bob,'” Ekblad said. “And that’s how he’s always been. It’s not anything new. He’s fantastic. He’s got a fantastic attitude. He’s got a will to succeed beyond anybody else on this team, so we’re really happy for him.
“He’s doing great and we’re going to continue to limit those chances that he gets, those difficult chances, and support him all the way.”
Linus Ullmark made 23 saves for the Boston in the loss.
