In Sunrise, Sam Reinhart hit for a hat trick on Thursday night in a 6-3 win for the Florida Panthers over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.
“He knows what’s going on,” Panthers coach Andrew Brunette said of Huberdeau. “He’s extremely unselfish. You don’t get 65, however many assists he has without being very aware, very perceptive, highly intelligent and unselfish. He demonstrated all those things tonight.”
Florida scored four times in the first period to take a 4-0 lead into the middle frame.
The Flyers replied with three goals in the frame to make it close at 4-3.
Florida improved to 40-13-5
“Obviously it’s been a good year,” Jonathan Huberdeau (four assists) said. “I know we’re getting points. Everybody is getting points on our team. We have a lot of depth. It’s been a fun year. Obviously we’re scoring a lot of goals. And I was just happy to get two points. Franchise record, it doesn’t really matter.”
Sergei Bobrovsky made 33 saves in the Florida win.
James van Riemsdyk, Cam Atkinson, and Travis Konecny rallied the Flyers with the three goals in the second period.
“They have a high-octane game and you have to make it hard on them and not give them anything easy,” Philadelphia’s James van Riemsdyk said. “We could have done better.”
The Flyers fell to 18-29-10.
Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe each scored twice in the opening frame for the 4-0 lead.

Anthony Duclair scored in the third period to give the Panthers a little berating room .with a 5-3 lead.
“Well, I obviously really enjoy it,” Brunette said . “And they’re doing it in the right way. And they’re doing it in a team environment, doing the right things. It’s not a year where they’re just looking for their own points or not playing a team game. I think they bought in, and for a coach, nothing is more rewarding than seeing them get rewarded for what they’ve done.”
Reinhart completed his hat trick in the third to make the 6-3 final.
Carter Hart made 31 saves. in the Flyers loss.
