Pacific Division Semifinal Playoff dates announced Ontario Reign (1) take on San Jose Barracuda (4)

ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign (affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL), take on the San Jose Barracuda, (affiliate of the San Jose Sharks of the NHL) in the opening round of the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs.

San Jose Barracuda logoThe Reign open the best-of-five series in San Jose for the first two games and return to Citizens Business Bank Arena to host the first-ever AHL Calder Cup Playoff game in Inland Empire history, Game 3, on Thursday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Citizens Business Bank Arena. If necessary, Game 4 will take place on Friday, April 29 and Game 5 will be on Sunday, May 1.

In the regular-season, the Reign battled the Barracuda 12 times, earning a 9-3-0-0 head-to-head record. Reign forward Sean Backman lead the series with 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and goaltender Peter Budaj went 9-2-0 with a 1.52 goals-against average and .943 save percentage. Forward Bryan Lerg led the Barracuda with eight points (three goals, five assists).

The Reign completed their inaugural AHL season with an overall record of 44-19-4-1.  The Barracuda also completed their inaugural AHL season this year, with an overall record of 31-26-8-3.

Game 2: Saturday, April 23 at SAP Center in San Jose, CA at 7:30 p.m.
Game 3: Thursday, April 28 at Citizens Business Bank Arena at 7:00 p.m.
Game 4*: Friday, April 29 at Citizens Business Bank Arena at 7:00 p.m.
Game 5*: Sunday, May 1 at Citizens Business Bank Arena at 3:00 p.m.
