Player-coach Omar Pacha acknowledges a fruitful weekend against Fife Flyers will put Rapid Solicitors Hull Stingrays in a strong position to claim a top-six finish in the Elite League.
Stingrays head to Kirkcaldy tomorrow night before they meet again at Hull Arena on Sunday (6pm face-off) in the Gardiner Conference.
Sitting three points behind Flyers with four games in hand, Stingrays can move above their rivals with a four-point weekend.
Pacha said: “It is going to be another tough weekend but it is no different throughout the Elite League.
“We have seen Fife two times this season but we have some different personnel to when we last played them.
“They have a lot of offensive upside, they have some skilled players, they have some good scorers and a good goalie.
“Fife are a good team and they are a little similar to us in looking for some consistency. We had five and a half good periods last weekend but fell asleep for 10 minutes.
“We want to get the job done sooner rather than later and this weekend is essential because we want to build off last weekend and keep the momentum going for the rest of the season.
“You are then asking teams to catch you rather than be the team doing the catching and it can put us in a really good spot to finish in sixth.
“If we can finish the year with some momentum we have the potential to do something good because you just never know.”
Captain Matty Davies will make his 300th appearance in all EIHL competitions on Sunday and he requires just five points for 200.
