INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second straight night the Indy Fuel downed the Evansville IceMen, this time riding a 32-save shutout from goaltender Shane Owen to a 3-0 win on Saturday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Owen made several spectacular saves in keeping the IceMen off the board through all three periods, allowing the Fuel (16-18-2-0) time to net a goal in each period along the way en route to the win.
Adam Lapsansky opened the scoring for the Fuel with his first goal of the year at 15:39 when he tipped in a Ben Marshall wrist shot while cruising right to left in the low slot. Alex Lavoie also picked up an assist on the play after winning the offensive zone faceoff back to Marshall. Thanks to Owen it would stand up to be the game-winning-goal.
Derek Roehl netted two goals in the contest, potting a shorthanded goal 14:04 of the second period and a power play goal at 13:49 of the third for his first two goals in a Fuel uniform.
Marshall would finish the game with two assists and a +2 rating.
The Fuel wrap the thee-games-in-three -days set Sunday in Wheeling against the Nailers at 4:05 pm. The Morellis Cleaners Pre-game Show starts 15 minutes before every puck drop on CBS Sports 1430.
