career was short lived when Moore was returned to the minors. Moore went onto represent a number of AHL sides including Hamilton Bulldogs, Portland Pirates. In 1998, Moore signed for Indianapolis Ice of the IHL before returning to the Pirates after just one season. A standout 1999-00 season with the Pirates registering 51 points didn’t go unnoticed as Moore earned a welcome return to the NHL albeit for just one game with the Washington Capitals. Over the next three years Moore split his time between the ECHL Columbia Inferno and Portland Pirates. One final season in the United States in 2004 with the Missouri River Otters of the UHL followed before taking the decision to make the trip to the UK to play for Coventry Blaze. In the three season’s in the EIHL with the Blaze, Moore has been a consistent player registering over twenty goals and assists a season since signing for Head-coach Paul Thompson. Although not outstanding number’s this doesn’t deter the enthusiasm that Thompson hold’s for Moore. “Barrie is a very, very unselfish team player and the full range of his qualities and what he brings to the team are not always apparent from the score sheet alone,” Thompson said “Barrie is such an experienced and versatile player that i know i can move him around offensive lines whenever i need to and i can always rely on him to contribute wherever he plays.” Signing for his fourth season Moore is just as excited at the prospect of playing another year. “I’ve loved every minute of my three years with the Blaze and i’m really pleased to be coming back for a fourth season, Coventry is a great club to play for and my family is really happy in the City,” Moore said I’m enjoying my training as much now as i ever have and the desire to win is just as strong if not more so.” Contact the author at
