After hearing of the loss of former Owner and Business Manager Ray McKelvie, the Owen Sound Attack took the ice Friday night and came out with a big 3-2 come from behind character win over the Sudbury Wolves.
After a slow start saw them fall behind 2-0 after just 20 minutes of play, the Attack used their quick strike offence in the second period to claw back into the game, scoring a pair of goals just two minutes apart. The first came off the stick of Servac Petrovsky, though fanning on the shot, he got enough of the puck to direct it into the net and past a sprawled Wolves goaltender. Goure showed off his speed and soft hands on a nice dash to the net, chipping the puck top shelf from the top of the crease to even the game at 2-2.
It was then Captain Colby Barlow, who extended his goal streak to nine games, as he took a perfect stretch pass from Sam Sedley just 41 seconds into the third period to put the Attack in front. The goal would stand for Barlow’s sixth game winning goal on the season, good for tops in the league, while giving him 19 total on the year placing him seconded amongst the league leaders.
It was not just another win for the Attack, as they climb to 16 on the season, but it was the character of the team that was displayed throughout the game to always keep fighting and battle on ward regardless of what the game threw their way. Barlow made sure to show his and the team’s respects for the late Ray McKelvie, acknowledging the man so entwined in Owen Sound hockey both in his post goal celebration and post-game interview.
