Omaha and Green Bay clinch playoff positions





PAPILLION, NEBRASKA – The USHL formally announce expansion this week.   Muskegon, Michigan will join the league for the 2010-11 seasons.   With the addition of Muskegon, the league will now expand to 16 total teams.   The USHL announced earlier this season that it would expand to Dubuque, Iowa starting next season.

Fargo 6, Indiana 2
Fargo, North Dakota – Chase Grant and Corey Leivermann added three points apiece to the winning effort in the rematch of last season’s USHL Finals.   Dayn Belfour made 18 saves for the Force to capture his fifth win this season.

Green Bay 5, Sioux Falls 1
Green Bay, Wisconsin – Gamblers goalie Steve Summerhays stopped 25 of 26 shots to lead Green Bay past the Stampede.   Green Bay would also receive two point nights from Reed Seckel, Robert Francis, Ludwig Karlsson, and Anders Lee.
Chicago 4, Tri-City 3
Kearney, Nebraska – Jake Chelios would score three points for the visiting Steel to edge Tri-City.   Billy Latta would score the game winning shot on a penalty shot midway through the third period.
Waterloo 8, Fargo 2
Waterloo, Iowa – The Black Hawks would use 49 shots on goal to decimate Fargo in the win.   J.T. Brown would score six points and Derek Arnold would score four points for Waterloo.
Omaha 4, Lincoln 0
Lincoln, Nebraska – Omaha completed the season series sweep for the first time ever against the rival Stars.   Jeff Teglia would earn his third shutout this season against the downtrodden Lincoln Stars.   The Lancers would reach success from Aaron Ave’s two assists.
Team USA 6, Des Moines 2
Des Moines, Iowa – Team USA would be successful after four unanswered first period goals in their defeat of the Des Moines Buccaneers.   Three members of Team USA’s roster would score three points; Nick Shore, Brandon Saad, and Jason Zucker would each score three points in the game.

Sioux Falls 3, Green Bay 2
Green Bay, Wisconsin – The Green Bay Gamblers would jump out to an early 2-0 lead against the Stampede going into the first intermission.   Yet Sioux Falls would fight back scoring once in the second and once more in the third period.   Sioux Falls Matt Lindblad had the game tying goal and Mark Anthoine would score the game winner in the shoot out for the Stampede.
Team USA 7, Lincoln 1
Lincoln, Nebraska – Team USA’s Bryan Rust scored four points but found himself overshadowed by line mate Jason Zucker’s hat trick.   Despite outshooting Team USA, Lincoln found the losing column once again as Jack Campbell would make 37 saves for Team USA in the winning effort.
Cedar Rapids 3, Fargo 2
Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Fargo’s Chase Grant would score twice including the game tying goal and would score once again in the shoot out to keep the Force in the game.   Despite the great effort by grant, it would be the RoughRiders Jeff Costello coming out as the hero as he would score once in regulation, and once more in the shoot out to give Cedar Rapids the win.
Chicago 3, Tri-City 2
Kearney, Nebraska –
Jake Chelios would score the game winning goal with 47 seconds remaining in the game to give the Steel the win.   Chicago’s Connor Wilson would stop 35 of 37 shots to defeat the Storm.
Omaha 3, Sioux City 2
Sioux City, Iowa – Sioux City’s Alex Krushelnyski scored the game tying goal to force an overtime skate midway through the third period.   Omaha’s Troy Power would score twice in regulation to help Omaha to the win via the shootout.   John Keeney would make the start in net stopping 21 of 23 for Omaha.
