Oilers top Flyers in OT, 2-1 PHN's Best Shots of the Game

PHILADELPHIA — Jack Roslovic scored 79 seconds in extra time on Wednesday night to give the Edmonton Oilers a 2-1 win over the Flyers.

Vasily Podkolzin #92 of the Edmonton Oilers try to stake his place in front of the net while Jamie Drysdale #9 of the Philadelphia Flyers battles to move him.

“They kind of got it up a little jumbled,” Roslovic said. “If you can just get a touch on it, sometimes it can help and be all the difference. So little touch, and then ‘Savy’ got a little touch, and then we both stayed onside, and he made a heck of a play.”

It was the second straight game where Roslovic hit for the winner in extra time.

“Jack has been a great addition to our team,” Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said of Roslovic, who signed a one-year contract Oct. 8. “Five-on-five, the power play, obviously overtime. We want more speed. I don’t think you can have enough speed in your lineup, and he helps with that. And also just some secondary scoring, he has provided that. So we’re very fortunate to have him.”

Stuart Skinner made 20 saves in the win.

Edmonton took a 1-0 lead with less than a minute left on the game clock in the first period. when Evan Bouchard  scored.

The Flyers tied it, 1-1, in the middle frame on a strike by Matvei Michkov .

“There’s positives,” Flyers coach Rick Tocchet said. “Every game, it seems it’s tight. We’ve just got to learn, we have the puck in overtime and we’re throwing it away. Hold on to it, make a play. We want to make plays. And that’s their learning process, playing through pressure. It’s hard to play playoff hockey 82 games, but we’re in these games where it’s almost like a playoff game, so we want to kind of really learn from these moments. It’s good for our guys.”

Dan Vladar made 30 saves in the loss.

“I thought we did a really good job sticking with it,” the Oilers’ Matt Savoie said. “I thought the second period we controlled play lots, we had a lot of possession, lots of looks in their zone, just wasn’t going in for us. Thought we did a good job sticking with it in the third and then obviously in overtime.”
