In Edmonton, Connor McDavid posted four points (goal and three assists) and Leon Draisaitl struck twice in a 7-2 win for the Oilers over the Minnesota Wild.
“Offense is something that comes in waves, and for whatever reason, we haven’t been able to find it, but we’ve been solid defensively,” McDavid said. “It doesn’t really matter how good your offense is, if you’re only giving up two a night you’re going to be in the game. It was nice to get a few tonight. You have these nights where things go in for you, and you have others where it doesn’t flow for you.”
Zack Kassian, Ryan Nugget-Hopkins, Darnell Nurse, and Alex Chiasson also scored for the Oilers.
Cam Talbot made 31 saves in the win.
“It’s always nice to score goals, but I thought our defensive game was pretty solid,” Draisaitl said. “It’s a good team over there and they’re going to get their chances. I thought [goalie Cam Talbot] was very good tonight and we had different lines contributing, and eventually, that’s what you need to win in this league.”
Marcus Foligno and Nino Niederreiter scored for the Wild.
“I’m concerned about every aspect of our game,” Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. “After 18 games we were third in the League defensively and now I am afraid to look where we are (15th in goals allowed per game). It is just unraveled right now. It is on us as a coaching staff and a team to right this ship and get them back learning how to play great defense again, because that is what is going to win you games, not trying to score five goals a night.”
Minnesota dropped to 15-12-2 and are 1-5-0 in their last six.

Devan Dubnyk allowed three goals on six shots before being pulled at 8:42 of the first period.
“I’ll take responsibility for this one,” Dubnyk said. “They obviously have some guys that can fly, and you have to be able to control them and settle it down if things are going that way. That’s my job.”
Alex Stalock made 22 saves.
