In Los Angeles, the Edmonton Oilers’ Leon Draisaitl’s power play goal in the third period snapped a 1-1 tie with the Kings on Tuesday en route to a 3-1 win.Draisaitl assisted the other two Oilers goals.

“It was a patient game and not a lot of room on the ice,” Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said. “Very well-played game by both teams. We found a way to win, which is a good sign for our group.”

Edmonton moved one point ahead of LA for second in the Pacific Division.

Stuart Skinner made 20 saves in the Oilers win.

Edmonton moved to 46-23-9 off their fifth straight win.

Viktor Arvidsson was the lone striker for the Kings, his third period goal tied the game, 1-1.

The Oilers had taken a 1-0 lead in the middle frame on a power play strike from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

“We have confidence in ourselves,” Nugent-Hopkins said. “I thought we probably weren’t as clean as you’d want to be in the first couple (of power plays), but I think stuck with it, trusted ourselves and the process. Just the ability that we can step up and get one when you need to.”

Los Angeles dropped to 45-23-10.

“I think you look at the special teams tonight. I think we were 0-for-4 on the power play, and we gave them too many chances and they capitalized,” Kings defenseman Sean Walker said. “Guys got to step up and get the job done.”

Darnell Nurse added a late empty-net goal for the 3-1 final.

Pheonix Copley made 30 saves  in the LA loss.
