OHA player succumbs to injury

BOSTON, Mass – Whatever your opinion is about fighting in hockey you cannot defend it by saying no one has died due to injuries suffered in a fight anymore.
Don Sanderson, a rookie defender playing for the Ontario Hockey Association’s Whitby Dunlops, was involved in a fight on December 12 with Brantford Blast forward Corey Fulton. During the fight Sanderson’s helmet came off. After the fight both players fell to the ice and Sanderson struck his head on the surface.

The Senior League is known as Major League Hockey and United States minor-pro fans would find such familiar names as John Veccharielli, Mike Minard, Chris Houle and Peter MacKellar dotting rosters across the league.

Pro Hockey News would like to add our condolences to the Sanderson family. Our thoughts are also with Corey Fulton after this tragedy.
