In San Jose, the Arizona offense broke out of its near season long slump and scored five straight goals in a 5-2 win over the Sharks on Friday night.
San Jose had taken a 2-0 lead in the game.
Darcy Kuemper made 26 saves in the win.
Phil Kessel made an appearance and had a goal, his 900th NHL point.
“It took a lot of games to do it,” Kessel said. “I’m fortunate. I’ve had a bunch of breakaways this season, and that might be my first goal, so I was happy to score on the breakaway for once.”
Erik Karlsson and Timo Meier were the goal scorers for the Sharks.
“It’s unfortunate that we didn’t get the two points, but we’re going to battle and we’re going to come back like we always have and try to make a lineup we can win with,” Sharks head coach Bob Boughner said.
Conor Garland, Jan Jenik and Victor Soderstrom had multi-point nights for the Coyotes with a goal apiece.
“I got a good pass from Oliver Ekman-Larsson, he’s a skilled player, and I was going to shoot the puck, but I saw the forward was pretty low,” Soderstrom said. “I tried to step up and I got a good shot on net.”
Michael Bunting added a single marker for the for Arizona. 
Josef Korenar made 29 saves in the loss.
“They got behind us a little bit,” the Sharks’ Mario Ferraro said. “He [Kessel] had a couple of breakaway chances and we should have been aware of that. We had a couple of bad breakdowns and some bad luck.”
