UNITED KINGDOM – Billingham Stars’ youthful roster showcased their potential on an action-packed weekend in NIHL North.

The Stars travelled to Blackburn Hawks on Saturday after picking up just one victory in their first three games in Moralee D1 this season.

Four unanswered goals in the first period put the Lancashire outfit in control of the match, but the visitors refused to lie down.

Billingham clawed their way back into the game to trail 8-7 with under four minutes to play, but two late goals secured the points for the Hawks.

The Teessiders returned to home ice the following evening and sealed a hugely impressive 5-1 victory over Solihull Barons – Callum Wilkinson (4) topped the scoring.

The four-goal haul completed an excellent personal weekend for the 19-year-old, who also chipped in with a couple at Blackburn.

Ruskin Hughes bagged a double for Sheffield Scimitars as they ran out 7-4 winners at Nottingham Lions.

Solway Sharks recorded a 5-4 road win at Whitley Warriors in a fiery Moralee Cup (North) clash – Liam Stenton (2) led the way for the Dumfries outfit.
