Northern UK round-up: Wild through to the final, Murdoch shines for Thunder

UNITED KINGDOM – Widnes Wild booked their place in the final of the NIHL Moralee Cup after a thrilling last four encounter against Solway Sharks.

Wild secured a 3-3 draw at Dumfries in the first leg and completed the job with a hard-fought 5-4 home victory in the reverse fixture.

Information about the second semi-final between Dundee Comets and Solihull Barons is expected to be published today.

Adam Finlinson, Craig Johnson and Rihards Grigors were on target as Whitley Warriors ran out 3-0 winners at Billingham Stars in Moralee D1.

Gowan Beddoes (2) topped the scoring for Hull Jets as they claimed a 6-4 home win over Sutton Sting in the first leg of their Laidler Cup semi-final.

Marcus Murdoch (4) was the star of the show for Kilmarnock Thunder as they triumphed 9-7 at North Ayrshire Wild in the Scottish National League.

Paisley Pirates forward Rolands Dietlavs bagged the decisive goal in his team’s 3-2 overtime success at home to Dundee Tigers.
