Northern UK round-up: Warriors miss chance to go top, Sharks maintain unbeaten cup record

UNITED KINGDOM – Title favourites Whitley Warriors missed the chance to go top of Moralee D1 as they slipped to a 6-4 defeat at Blackburn Hawks.

Vladimir Luka (4) was the star of the show for Sheffield Scimitars in their hugely impressive 8-0 home victory over Widnes Wild.

Billingham Stars recovered from a goal down to seal a 2-1 overtime win against Nottingham Lions – Ben Davison bagged the deciding goal.

Ruairi Lockerbie (2), Callum Boyd and Gordon Horne were on target as Solway Sharks maintained their 100% record in the Moralee Cup (North) with a 4-3 home success against Billingham.

Liam Charnock (3) and Richard Haggar (2) topped the scoring for Widnes in their 7-5 road win at Solihull Barons in the Midlands group.

Sutton Sting recorded a 2-1 home victory over Bradford Bulldogs after a shoot-out in Laidler D2, while Sheffield Titans triumphed 4-0 at home to Coventry NIHL Blaze.

Coventry had better luck in the Laidler Cup (Midlands) as they eased to a 3-0 victory at Nottingham Lions 2 – Harry Sherlock, Caden Hughes and Sam Chandler got the goals.
