Northern UK round-up: Sharks wallop woeful Warriors, Aces snap losing streak

UNITED KINGDOM – Whitley Warriors suffered a thoroughly dismal defeat at home to Solway Sharks on Sunday.

The Moralee D1 title favourites were demolished 9-0 on an evening where the Dumfries outfit looked a class apart.

Iain Bowie (2), Callum Boyd, Richard Bentham, Struan Tonnar, Kieran Hair, Stuart Kerr, Liam Stenton and Mack Stewart were on target for the Sharks.

Callum Bowley (2) topped the scoring for Solihull Barons as they ran out 4-1 winners at home to Sheffield Scimitars.

Chris Sykes (3) and Mikey Elder (2) led the way for Billingham Stars in their 7-1 home victory over Nottingham Lions.

Blackburn Hawks needed overtime to secure a 5-4 home win over Widnes Wild – Jacob Lutwyche bagged the decisive goal.

Laidler D2 leaders Telford Tigers 2 lost their unbeaten record courtesy of a 4-2 defeat at Sutton Sting – Cameron Glasby (2) was amongst the scorers for the home team.

Altrincham Aces snapped their eight-game losing streak in all competitions with an 8-5 home victory over Coventry NIHL Blaze.

Dan Hackford weighed in with four goals as Hull Jets secured a comfortable 14-1 success at Nottingham Lions 2.
