Northern UK round-up: Sharks maintain perfect start, Bulldogs cruise past the Lions

UNITED KINGDOM – Solway Sharks maintained their unbeaten start to the NIHL North season with two more victories over the weekend.

Scott Henderson, Iain Bowie, Callum Boyd and Struan Tonnar were on target as the Sharks claimed a 4-2 victory at home to Whitley Warriors in the Moralee Cup (North).

The Dumfries-based outfit followed up with a hard-fought 5-4 win at Blackburn Hawks in Moralee D1 – Richard Bentham bagged the winner two seconds from time.

Harry Harley notched a hat-trick as the Warriors returned to winning ways with a 9-5 home victory against Billingham Stars in the cup.

Widnes Wild picked up their first-ever points at D1 level with an impressive 7-2 win at Nottingham Lions – Jakub Hajek (2) and Vlads Vulknaovs (2) topped the scoring.

Stanislav Lascek (3) led the way for Sheffield Scimitars as they romped to a comfortable 8-1 victory at Solihull Barons in the Moralee Cup (Midlands).

Josh Reynolds (2), Matty Barlow (2) and Liam Salt (2) were amongst the scorers for Bradford Bulldogs in their 8-0 home win over Nottingham Lions in Laidler D2.

Tate Shudra netted a brace for Sheffield Titans in their 4-2 victory at Coventry NIHL Blaze.

Filip Supa’s late goal sealed a 2-1 win for Telford Tigers 2 at Sutton Sting in the Laidler Cup (Midlands).
