Northern UK round-up: Scottish pair set up cross-border semi-finals, Titans maintain unbeaten record

UNITED KINGDOM – The semi-final line-up for the NIHL Moralee Cup (North) is now known, with two Scottish sides set to face teams from England.

Solway Sharks secured top spot in the northern group courtesy of a 4-1 win at Dundee Comets – Callum Boyd, Struan Tonnar, Peter Gapa and Scott Henderson got the goals.

The Comets ensured their progression to the next stage of the competition with a 2-1 victory at Whitley Warriors – Jonathan McBean and Sean Beattie were on target.

Solway will now face Widnes Wild in the last four, while the Comets will take on Solihull Barons.

Niklas Ottosson (2) topped the scoring for the Barons as they claimed a 5-4 win at home to Billingham Stars in Moralee D1.

Blackburn Hawks needed overtime to seal a 6-5 home victory over bottom club Nottingham Lions – Aaron Davies bagged the winner.

Lucas Price hit a hat-trick for Telford Titans 2 in their 9-5 win at home to Coventry NIHL Blaze in Laidler D2.

Sheffield Titans maintained their unbeaten start to the league campaign with a 2-1 home success against Sutton Sting – William Newcombe scored their goals.

Tomas Mitrik (2) led the way for Bradford Bulldogs as they raced to an 8-2 victory at Altrincham Aces in the Laidler Cup (North).

Callum Griffin weighed in with a couple of goals for Telford in their 7-0 win at Nottingham Lions 2 in the Midlands group.

Aberdeen Lynx recorded a 7-5 road victory over previously unbeaten Dundee Tigers in the Scottish National League – James DeMeo (2) was amongst the scorers.
