Northern UK round-up: Jets battle back to clinch cup, Sharks ease past the Stars

UNITED KINGDOM – Hull Jets produced a thrilling comeback against Telford Tigers 2 to claim the first silverware in NIHL North this season.

The Jets lost the first leg 4-2 in Hull last weekend, but a 5-2 road victory at Telford Ice Rink helped them secure a 7-6 aggregate success.

Kieran Beach, Dan Hackford, Tom Forster, Chris Hogarth and Boris Giba were on target for the Jets.

Lawson Glasby (4) led the way for Sutton Sting as they ran out comfortable 8-1 winners at Nottingham Lions 2 in Laidler D2.

Harrison Sumner (2) topped the scoring as Coventry NIHL Blaze recorded a 6-3 home victory over Bradford Bulldogs.

Solway Sharks continued their imperious form with an 8-3 win at Billingham Stars in Moralee D1 – Struan Tonnar (3), Peter Gapa (2), Kell Beattie, Scott Henderson and Iain Bowie got the goals.

Whitley Warriors kept their title hopes alive with a 4-2 win at Blackburn Hawks – Steven Chalmers (2), Rihards Grigors and Shaun Kippin were on the scoresheet.

Sheffield Scimitars had a mixed weekend on home ice, beating Widnes Wild 2-1 on Saturday before slipping to a 5-3 defeat against Solihull Barons the following day.

Vlads Vulkanovs bagged a hat-trick as Widnes sealed a hard-fought 8-5 home win over Nottingham Lions.
