Northern UK round-up: Hawks’ away misery continues, Kestrels’ pair bag trebles

UNITED KINGDOM – Blackburn Hawks’ road woes continued as Nottingham Lions handed them their ninth away defeat in 11 outings in all competitions this season.

The Lions capitalised on the Hawks’ ill-discipline to secure a 9-8 home win in Moralee D1 – Toby Fisher (3) and Zach Yokoyama (2) led the scoring for the Midlands outfit.

Whitley Warriors closed the gap on table-topping Solway Sharks to four points courtesy of a 3-1 victory at Billingham Stars – Jordan Barnes, Steven Chalmers and Rolands Gritans got the goals.

Vlads Vulkanovs weighed in with a hat-trick as Widnes Wild moved into the top half of the table with an impressive 6-4 home win over Solihull Barons.

Laidler D2 leaders Sheffield Titans triumphed 4-3 at home to Hull Jets but lost their unbeaten record the following day as they slipped to a 4-2 defeat at Altrincham Aces.

Filip Supa (2) and Rhys Howells (2) were on target for Telford Tigers 2 as they secured a 4-2 home win over Bradford Bulldogs.

Lawson Glasby, Jacob Frost and Nathan Frost got the goals for Sutton Sting in their hard-fought 3-2 victory at Coventry NIHL Blaze.

Conor Duncan led the way with seven goals as Paisley Pirates triumphed 12-8 at Kilmarnock Thunder in the Scottish National League.

Chad Smith and Sean Cochrane bagged hat-tricks for Kirkcaldy Kestrels in their stylish 9-2 home victory over Belfast SNL Giants.

Dundee Comets maintained their unbeaten league record with a 10-0 home win against North Ayrshire Wild – Jonathan McBean (2), Sean Beattie (2), Michael Ireland (2) were amongst the scorers.
