In Boston Friday night, Joakim Nordstrom scored 1:57 into overtime to give the Bruins a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
“I didn’t really have to do much [other] than just keep my stick on the ice,” Nordstrom said.
Nordstrom tipped a pass from Torey Krug into the net for the winner.
“Did I think he’d score the winner?” Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said. “No but hey, it worked out that way, and good for him. He’s a pretty responsible player in all situations and does a lot of penalty-killing for us, hasn’t seen the power play. So it’s nice when a guy like that gets rewarded.”
Jake DeBrusk scored for the Bruins in regulation.
Jaroslav Halak made 36 saves to pick up the win.
Evgeni Malkin had the lone goal for the Pens.
The Pens dropped to 8-8-5 with the loss.
“I don’t really look at it,” Pens head coach Mike Sullivan said. “We’re looking for wins. We have higher expectations where we’re trying to win every game that we’re in.”
Pittsburgh is 1-3-2 in their last six.
“I think our changes have to be good, but in order to have good changes, you’ve got to hold on to the puck in their end too and wear them down a bit. I think it’s just … it could go either way. A lot of time it comes down to execution or finishing on a chance you get and we probably haven’t done that as consistently,” Sidney Crosby said of the losing stretch.

Tristan Jarry made 35 saves in his fist appearance of the season.
“It was good. I felt it’s been a long time since I played an NHL game so it’s good to get back into things. I didn’t think the speed and the shooting affected me too much. I think that was something that I didn’t want to affect me, it was just working above the pace and try to get as many pucks as I could,” Jarry said after the game.
