NIHL Tigers face Sharks this weekend

Consistency will once again be the watchword for Telford Tigers NIHL when they face Solway Sharks at Telford Ice Rink on Saturday evening.

A poor post-Christmas run has seen Jason Parry’s men slip from third to fifth in the Moralee Conference, with sixth-placed Sheffield just a further point behind.

They take on a Solway side that has won four out of five games since the festive season, dramatically closing the gap to the top four play-off-places.Telford Tigers logo

And head coach Parry is determined to reverse his team’s slide against the Sharks.

He said: “I am confident we can beat anyone in the league, but we just need to remain focused for 60 minutes. That has been a big factor for us this season.

“Tom and myself have stressed the importance of being focused, and we’ve worked on it a lot during practice.

“We had a bad start in Sheffield a few weeks ago and it cost us, and it’s the same with the second period we had against Blackburn last week.”

Telford still have a good chance of making the end-of-season play-offs, however, with just four points separating them from third-placed Solihull.

Victory over Solway on Saturday would go some way towards closing that gap, after Telford won their previous meeting in September 6-3.

Parry added: “We can’t reverse anything, so we just have to move onto the next night and try to take the two points, one game at a time.

“We’ll try and take the positives out of last week, in the fact that we had two very good periods and competed with the Moralee Conference leaders.

“The key is that we limited them to less shots than our previous two meetings with them.”

Saturday’s game against Solway Sharks, at Telford Ice Rink, faces off at 5.30pm.
