Tigers NIHL coach Jason Parry hailed the performance of his younger players in Saturday night’s 4-2 win over Sutton Sting.
Victory at Telford Ice Rink handed Parry’s men the initiative in the race for third spot in the Moralee Conference, with Solihull Barons on equal points.
But Telford have a game in hand over their Midlands rivals – and Parry will be hoping for more of the same from those youngsters who scored against Sutton.
He said: “Every game is important for us, so to beat Sutton and draw level with Solihull is great. We have that extra game to play as well.
“I was really pleased with how our young guys chipped in tonight, especially the scorers. Karol Jets has been leading the line recently, so it was important they stepped up.
“The guys on the third line did a great job as well. Callum Griffin and Matt Price were on plusses tonight, so I’m really chuffed for them.”
Goals from Matt Price and Phil Mulcahy handed Telford the lead in the first period, before a further strike from Ben Washburn after the break.
The visitors pulled a goal back on 37 minutes, while Mulcahy added a fourth in the final session – sealing victory, ahead of a second goal from Sutton.
Parry added: “We play Sutton again on Sunday night, so we’re halfway there for the weekend. We’ve already played them three times and won each game.
“The key is to get those two points on the board tomorrow night.”
