BILLINGHAM, UK – With only four games in Moralee D1 last weekend and minimal movement in terms of the main statistical areas, it is a good time to analyse individual player statistics.
We will have a look at the top 10 point scorers, top five netminders and delve into team leaders for those not in the top 10.
Top 10 in Points
Last year’s top point scorer Matty Davies (Hull Pirates) is once again leading the pack, joint with Solihull Barons’ forward Niklas Ottosson (above). The difference between the two players is that Davies has played five less games.
He is currently scoring at 4.67 points per game and is joined in the top 10 by fellow Pirates Jason Hewitt (5th), Bobby Chamberlain (8th) and Lee Bonner (=10th) who are all scoring at three points a game and upwards.
Ottosson is joined by teammate Luke Brittle (3rd) who leads the league in goals so far this campaign with 18 through 11 games. Whitley Warriors’ Ben Campbell (4th) is just two goals behind Brittle on 16 and has certainly given his side the scoring touch they’ve lacked in recent times.
Telford Tigers are represented by Jason Silverthorn (6th) and the returning Andrew McKinney (9th), while it is only a matter of time before Doug Clarkson (=13th) is on the leader board as he has 16 points in three games.
Rounding off the top 10 is controversial Sheffield Steeldogs centre Milan Kolena (7th).

Top 5 Netminders
At this point in the season there are only 10 netminders with a save percentage of 90% or over. Four of these are Steeldogs and two of those – Charlie Renzi and Curtis Warburton – have played a combined 21 minutes. As a rule for these statistics we have not included anyone who has faced under 50 shots.
Hull’s banned netminder Tomas Fucik is leading the way with a fantastic save percentage. The Pirates will be relying heavily on 19-year-old duo Ash Smith and Joe Gent to stop pucks in his absence after his moment of madness.
Josh Nicholls of Solihull sits in second position, but has only iced in two games for his 93.44%. Sheffield’s next netminder is Brandon Stones who has only faced 62 shots in fewer than three full games.
Finally, Telford duo Tom Hovell and Denis Bell round out the top five. Hovell has only faced 59 shots in 169 minutes, while Bell is the regular starter.
| Name | Team | SAG | GA | SAVE % |
| T Fucik | Hull | 133 | 5 | 96.24% |
| J Nicholls | Solihull | 61 | 4 | 93.44% |
| B Stones | Sheffield | 62 | 5 | 91.94% |
| T Hovell | Telford | 59 | 5 | 91.53% |
| D Bell | Telford | 149 | 14 | 90.60% |
| Min 50 shots |
Top Scorer from the Remaining Five Teams
Solway Sharks’ leading scorer is Rick Bentham who is =10th in league points with 18. He sits below Bonner on this total due to his two extra games played. Bentham has 10 goals and eight assists in eight appearances.
Stan Lascek (=13th) holds the scoring lead for Sutton Sting. The former Pirates and Steeldogs player has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 10 appearances.
Chris Sykes (=21st) again leads Billingham Stars in points with four goals and nine assists for 13 points in eight games. With the team struggling in recent games he isn’t at the same points total he was last season, which saw him in the top 10.
Ruskin Hughes (=25th) has been one of few highlights for the league’s basement side Nottingham Lions. His 10 goals plus one assist give him 11 points in 11 games.
Finally, the lowest scoring of our team leaders is Blackburn Hawks Adam Barnes (=48th). The forward on a two-way deal with Manchester Storm has only played in three games for the Lancashire outfit, but has seven goals and one assist to give him eight points.
