PHN’s top two talking points
Some fans need to get a grip
NIHL North has suffered its fair share of stupidity amongst fans over the past couple of seasons, but last weekend really took the biscuit.
The sight of a contributor to a fan Facebook page for the league who has learning disabilities being openly mocked was undoubtedly the single most despicable act witnessed on that particular page in recent times.
Some fans seem hell-bent on acting like morons on a variety of social media platforms. You’re an embarrassment to the league and your club. Sickening.
Fans have a right to ask questions
It’s safe to say Billingham’s season isn’t going well. Five points and next to the bottom of the league – it’s not a pretty sight.
One particular long-serving fan vented his frustration on social media after Sunday’s defeat at Whitley by suggesting that changes in the club’s hierarchy are needed.
Stars’ player Jack Davies replied with a ridiculous “you lace them up” comment and followed up with “don’t like it, don’t come” to nicely round things off. Well done alienating loyal supporters.
Whether Davies likes it or not, when fans are spending significant sums of money to follow their team home and way they’re entitled to question when things aren’t going well.
This is especially the case when you’re at a club that simply shouldn’t be languishing at the foot of the table.
If the likes of Davies can’t handle that sort of scrutiny, which was actually aimed at the management rather than the players, then go and play rec hockey. Simple.
