ENGLAND, UK – Phil Edgar’s hat-trick goal sealed a dramatic 6-5 victory for Whitley Warriors at Billingham Stars in Moralee D1.
Warriors had built up a three-goal lead by the 23rd minute, but Stars fought back to send the game to overtime.
However, Edgar bagged the decider to send the Warriors five points clear at the top of the table.
Adam Brittle (2) and Tom Soar (2) led the way for Solihull Barons as they ran out 6-4 winners at home to Blackburn Hawks.
Bradford Bulldogs are top of Laidler D2 after recording a comprehensive 7-2 home victory over Telford Tigers 2 – Josh Stockton (2) topped their scoring.
Deeside Dragons picked up their second victory of the season as they recorded an emphatic 10-1 win at Blackburn Hawks 2.
Mikey Gilbert’s hat-trick goal secured a 7-6 overtime success for Widnes Wild at Sheffield Senators.
Widnes were unable to follow up in the NIHL Midlands Cup, falling to a 3-2 defeat at home to Nottingham Lions.

North East derby a solitary beacon
A cracking North East derby between Billingham and Whitley was the undoubted high point of what was a largely uninspiring weekend in NIHL North.
Just two games in D1? Dull. D2 featuring a club who should have moved up during the summer? Even more dull. Midlands Cup? No thanks.
It’s very noticeable that some of the popular social media pages connected to the league and clubs have been pretty quiet since the start of the new season.
PHN normally manages to squeeze two talking points out of most weekends, but we’ll stick to one this week becauzzzzzz…
