ENGLAND, UK – Things are heating up at the top of the Laidler D2 standings heading into the final two months of the season.
Bradford Bulldogs drew level with table-topping Hull Jets after picking up a point in their 4-3 overtime defeat at Sheffield Senators.
That result completed a four-point weekend for Sheffield who also triumphed 10-0 at Blackburn Hawks 2 – Tom Humphries (5) topped their scoring.
Altrincham Aces remain in the mix despite only splitting their weekend double-header with Widnes Wild.
The Aces slipped to a 4-3 defeat on home ice, but bounced back to record an impressive 6-3 victory in the reverse fixture.
Vlads Vulkanovs weighed in with a couple of goals at Widnes as the Aces kept their title hopes alive.
Deeside Dragons moved up to sixth in the standings with a hard-fought 5-3 home success over Telford Tigers 2.
Whitley Warriors climbed to the top of Moralee D1 after recording two comfortable victories over Sutton Sting.
The Warriors triumphed 10-3 on the road and followed up with a 7-2 win at Hillheads to edge a point in front of Solway Sharks.
Peter Gapa (3) topped the scoring for the Sharks as they ran out comfortable 8-0 winners at home to Nottingham Lions.
Solihull Barons strengthened their grip on third place with an emphatic 11-1 victory at Nottingham – Matt Maurice (4) was amongst the scorers.
Billingham Stars split their weekend series with Blackburn Hawks, winning 7-6 after overtime at home before slipping to a 4-1 defeat on the road.
