LANCASHIRE, UK – Telford Tigers moved to the top of Moralee D1 after recording two comfortable victories over the weekend.

The Tigers won 9-4 at Solihull Barons and followed up with an 11-1 home success against Sutton Sting – Doug Clarkson bagged a hat-trick in both games.

Sheffield Steeldogs maintained their 100% record with a 6-1 win against Sutton – Milan Kolena (3) topped their scoring.

Solway Sharks triumphed 5-1 at home to Billingham Stars, while Whitley Warriors ran out 9-1 winners at Nottingham Lions.

Blackburn Hawks had a dismal weekend in the NIHL North Cup, losing 10-3 at Hull Pirates and 6-0 on home ice against Sheffield.

Hull came from 4-2 behind to win 7-4 at Billingham and Solway cruised to an 11-0 home win against Murrayfield Racers.

Jason Hewitt (2) led the way for Hull in their 4-3 win at Sheffield in the first leg of their Autumn Cup semi-final tie.

In Laidler D2, Widnes Wild won 14-2 at Blackburn Hawks 2 and 2-1 at home to Telford Tigers 2.

Deeside Dragons endured a tough weekend, losing 8-0 at Bradford Bulldogs and 4-2 on home ice against Sheffield Senators.

Kieran Beach and Gowan Beddoes weighed in with a couple of goals apiece as Hull Jets triumphed 7-5 at Coventry Blaze NIHL

Short bench? Pull the other one!

Hull Pirates safely navigated a busy weekend in two cup competitions by recording three victories in three games.

However, claims on the club’s Twitter page about being short-benched after Sunday’s win at Billingham lacked a little class – particularly when the Pirates had 19 players listed on the game sheet.

The home side were missing eight senior players and iced three juniors amongst a match night roster of 15. It’s safe to say that if anyone was within their rights to cry ‘short-bench’ it wasn’t the Pirates.

Streetly takes one for the team at Hull

The news that Blackburn ‘D’ man Bobby Streetly was hospitalised after taking a puck to the face at Hull was a timely reminder of the sacrifices that players make for the organisations they represent.

The 24-year-old is likely to be out of action for a few weeks and, by his own admission, will be sick of the sight of soup as he recovers from his injuries.

The team at PHN would like to wish Bobby a speedy recovery and we hope he is able to return to the ice soon.
