ENGLAND, UK – Solway Sharks extended their lead at the top of Moralee D1 after recording an emphatic 12-2 victory at home to Blackburn Hawks.

Iain Bowie (above) and Scott Henderson both weighed in with hat-tricks as the Sharks completely outclassed the visitors to move three points clear of Whitley Warriors.

Ryan Johnson (2) topped the scoring for Sutton Sting as they ran out 6-1 winners on home ice against Nottingham Lions.

The Lions followed up with a 7-2 home defeat against Billingham Stars – Tomas Rubes bagged a hat-trick for the Teesside outfit.

Matt Maurice (4) and Callum Bowley (3) led the way for Solihull Barons as they retained their unbeaten record in the NIHL Midlands Cup with a 13-2 home win over Widnes Wild.

Blackburn failed to bounce back from their mauling at Solway as they crashed 5-2 at home to Sutton in the same competition.

Hull Jets are just a point off top spot in Laidler D2 following an impressive 9-1 victory at Deeside Dragons – Richard Haggar (2) led their scoring.

Sheffield Senators ended a two-game losing streak with a 5-4 overtime victory at home to Altrincham Aces – Truels Lone’s hat-trick goal was the decider.

The Aces regained the winning thread the following evening as they romped to an 11-0 home victory over Blackburn Hawks 2.

That result completed yet another dismal weekend for Blackburn’s teams as the D2 side crashed by the same scoreline at home to Deeside.
